Welding Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to enhance our engineering capabilities.

As a Welding Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include the formulation of welding methodologies and protocols for diverse welding tasks and qualifications. You will oversee the metallurgical laboratory's operations and ensure compliance with both Military Welding Standards and Boiler Pressure Vessel Codes. Proficiency in GTAW, PTA, Oxyacetylene, and Welding Automation is preferred. You will investigate and analyze welding defects and non-conformance issues, determining root causes and implementing corrective measures. Your role will also involve optimizing the utilization of welding personnel and equipment to align with the company's objectives.

Salary/hourly rate: $63,100 to $85,000

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate new welding procedures, oversee the assessment of weld qualifications, and secure necessary customer approvals.
  • Provide technical assistance to welding production teams and assess welding defects to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with clients and suppliers regarding welding matters.
  • Evaluate and adopt innovative welding technologies, recommend new equipment, and oversee the procurement and installation processes.
  • Review new requests for quotations related to welding needs and collaborate with Contract/Sales and Project Engineering to provide welding plans and production estimates.
  • Ensure proper documentation of weld records and maintain weld procedure and welder qualification records.
  • Participate in administrative and production meetings to support engineering, manufacturing, and program management initiatives.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering with a focus on metallurgy, materials science, or welding engineering.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing setting, with expertise in Oxyacetylene Hardsurfacing, PTA, GTA, x-ray quality structures, seal welding, LASER, and electron beam welding.
  • Strong understanding of engineering metallurgy, material properties, specifications, and heat-treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with critical weld joints and hardsurfacing deposits.
