Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineering Manager to join our team at Curtiss-Wright. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of welding techniques and procedures for all welding applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement welding procedures and techniques to ensure high-quality welds and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee the metallurgical laboratory and production areas to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Manage the technical requirements and welding activities to comply with both Military Welding Standard NAVSEA and Boiler Pressure Vessel Code ASME Section IX.
  • Investigate and evaluate welding rejects and non-compliance issues to determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s).
  • Develop and recommend effective utilization of welding human resources and equipment to meet the company's goals.
  • Interact and provide technical support to welding production personnel.
  • Primary technical interface with customers and vendors on welding issues.
  • Evaluate and implement the use of new welding technology and select and recommend new welding equipment.
  • Develop welding procedures and training of personnel for the utilization of new equipment.
  • Review new requests for quotations for new welding requirements.
  • Coordinate and provide Contract/Sales and/or Project Engineering with both welding plans and production welding estimates.
  • Provide oversight of weld record preparation and weld procedure and welder qualification records.
Requirements
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering with major in metallurgy, materials science, or welding engineering.
  • Minimum ten (15) years of hands-on experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strength in engineering metallurgy of material properties, material specifications, pre and post heat-treatment requirements, brazing.
  • Knowledge of critical weld joints and hardsurfacing deposits.
