We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Welding Engineer to enhance our engineering team.

As the Senior Welding Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include the formulation of welding methodologies and protocols for diverse welding applications and qualifications. You will oversee the metallurgical laboratory and production sectors, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and welding operations in accordance with Military Welding Standards NAVSEA and Boiler Pressure Vessel Code ASME Section IX. Proficiency in GTAW, PTA, Oxyacetylene, and Welding Automation is preferred. Additionally, you will investigate and assess welding defects and non-conformance issues, identifying root causes and corrective measures while optimizing the use of welding personnel and equipment to achieve organizational objectives.

Location: East Farmingdale, NY

Compensation: $91,000 to $131,399

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine welding procedures, supervise the assessment of weld qualifications, and secure necessary customer approvals.
  • Provide technical support to welding production teams, investigating and resolving welding defects.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with clients and suppliers regarding welding matters.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative welding technologies, recommending and overseeing the procurement and installation of new equipment.
  • Review requests for quotations related to new welding needs, collaborating with Contract/Sales and Project Engineering on welding plans and production estimates.
  • Ensure proper documentation of weld records and qualifications.
  • Participate in administrative and production meetings to support engineering, manufacturing, and program management.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, specializing in metallurgy, materials science, or welding engineering.
  • A minimum of ten years of practical experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing setting, with expertise in Oxyacetylene Hardsurfacing, PTA, GTA, x-ray quality structures, seal welding, LASER, and electron beam welding.
  • Strong understanding of engineering metallurgy, material properties, specifications, and heat treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with critical weld joints and hardsurfacing deposits.
