Clinical Education Faculty

This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and is part of a collaborative educational team responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive medical curriculum focused on obstetrics, women's health, and clinical sciences.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching (75%):
- Design and implement both pre-clinical and clinical educational programs in obstetrics and women's health.
- Deliver presentations on common obstetrical and women's health topics to first and second-year medical students.
- Engage in small group discussions addressing prevalent obstetrical and women's health issues with students.
- Create a syllabus for clinical rotations in obstetrics and women's health.
- Work in conjunction with the clinical skills education team to develop and facilitate courses that enhance osteopathic clinical skills in obstetrics and women's health, which include:
- Effective communication techniques for accurate history-taking and sensitive information delivery;
- Conducting thorough physical examinations in a respectful and efficient manner;
- Diagnosing with a focus on critical information extraction and rational laboratory test utilization;
- Understanding the impact of cultural, age, gender, and personal values on patient care;
- Identifying and addressing ethical issues in medical practice;
- Maintaining continuous education and competence in evaluating new information;
- Communicating accurately and respectfully with healthcare team members;
Administrative Duties (5%):
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of departmental faculty as needed.
- Participate in the peer evaluation process for faculty members.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Outcomes & Assessment on the evaluation of courses and scholarly activities, ensuring annual reporting and curriculum mapping.
- Support the credentialing process for OB/GYN clinical faculty.
- Work with leadership on assessing osteopathic student readiness for curriculum advancement.
Service Contributions (10%):
- Engage in student mentorship, interviewing, and career guidance.
- Promote a positive environment among students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve on committees as designated by the Dean.
- Assist in accreditation-related tasks, including documentation and data management.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Research and Scholarly Activities (10%):
- Encourage and support student research initiatives.
- Participate in scholarly activities that lead to public dissemination of research findings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will be a clinician educator with a proven record in medical education and administration.
- Possession of a DO or MD degree with relevant experience.
- Current, unrestricted medical license.
- Board Certification in the relevant specialty.
- Good standing with regulatory and governmental agencies.
- Experience with innovative teaching methods, including team-based learning and problem-based learning.
- Demonstrated success as an educator and in personnel management.
- Experience in academic publication and national presentations.
