Position Overview
The role of Clinical Faculty is pivotal in delivering the College's educational philosophy, curriculum, and program outcomes through effective clinical instruction and community service. The position entails:
- Implementing the College's educational philosophy and course objectives through hands-on clinical teaching.
- Conducting onsite teaching in collaboration with clinical partners, typically involving 12-hour shifts over three to four consecutive days.
- Taking full responsibility for all aspects of individual teaching assignments.
- Designing clinical experiences and providing direct supervision and assessment of nursing students as they deliver care.
- Evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback aligned with course objectives.
- Offering remediation support to students as necessary.
- Staying updated on agency and clinical policies with the assistance of clinical personnel.
- Creating and assigning written clinical tasks tailored to students' knowledge and skill levels.
- Timely grading of assignments, quizzes, and clinical documentation.
- Possibly teaching didactic content under the guidance of a course coordinator.
- Maintaining open communication with the course coordinator regarding student and agency matters.
- Reporting to the dean or assistant dean, with oversight from a course coordinator.
Qualifications
We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Kansas.
- A valid nursing license is required prior to accepting any clinical contracts.
- A minimum of two years of professional nursing experience within the last five years in the relevant instructional area.
- Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- A genuine passion for nursing, education, and continuous learning.
- Exceptional expertise in the subject matter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for teaching at specific clinical partner sites.
- A commitment to serving students and colleagues with respect and care.
- A sense of responsibility and purpose, aiming to enrich the broader community.
Compensation Information
The expected compensation for this position ranges from $560 to $7,245 per assignment, contingent upon the credit hours assigned to the course. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as course type, experience, geographic location, and departmental budgets.
