Job Overview

The Senior Estimator role represents a key position within our Estimating department. This role is tasked with the development and oversight of estimates across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The Senior Estimator will engage with clients, formulate high-quality and competitive estimates utilizing Xactimate software, and manage projects through to completion while keeping clients and management informed of progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to produce multi-sketches with various levels and roof designs accurately.
  • Develop precise scopes with minimal discrepancies.
  • Create detailed floor plans and multi-level/roof sketches using Xactimate Sketch.
  • Possess a solid understanding of relevant building codes.
  • Establish and adhere to acceptable budgets, addressing any overages as they arise.
  • Utilize the designated naming conventions for estimates, revised estimates, proposals, and change orders.
  • Exhibit knowledge of local building regulations.
  • Maintain a construction timeline and collaborate with trades and management to ensure timely project completion, proposing solutions when additional resources are necessary.
  • Show proficiency in source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, and deodorization techniques.
  • Demonstrate expertise in investigative demolition and controlled demolition processes.
  • Engage in ongoing training with BELFOR University, including Basic Xactimate training to prepare for Estimator Level 2 or 3 User Certification, with a passing score requirement of 85%.
  • Independently manage personal workload.
  • Ensure vehicle safety and maintenance, keeping vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Complete all necessary accident, injury, and incident reporting forms promptly.
  • Possess strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participate in continuous education to enhance career development and ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement initiatives to position Belfor Environmental as a leader in the industry.
  • Adhere to company and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  • Expand and maintain local clientele, primarily consisting of insurance adjusters, community business owners, schools, and municipalities, with an estimated book of business ranging from $4M to $8M.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients, adjusters, and consultants.
  • Identify and accurately scope unique site-specific conditions and requirements.
  • Engage in scope development, negotiations, and agreements with clients.
  • Utilize BELFOR standards for formatting estimates.
  • Provide accurate estimates across all trades using line items in estimating software.
  • Coordinate after-hours emergency services as directed, including board-ups and damage restoration.
  • Consistently identify potential site hazards such as asbestos, lead paint, and mold.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, proactively communicating information and responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices, working under time constraints to meet specific deadlines.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and a strong commitment to safeguarding client property and information.
  • Attend required BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training courses.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Construction, Restoration, or Contents Estimating.
  • Experience in residential estimating exceeding $50,000 and commercial estimating exceeding $100,000.
  • Successful completion of BELFOR Estimating Platform Level 2 user certification.
  • Completion of Advanced Xactimate training in preparation for Estimating Platform Level 3 User Certification with a minimum score of 90%.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Understanding of MSDS Data sheets and their relevance to job sites.
  • Proficient in using BELFOR Estimate Format Standards for Xactimate estimates and proposals.
  • Extensive experience in Customer Service.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Xactimate.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and maintain professional relationships with vendors.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting of over 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding and repetitive tasks.
  • Capability to bend, crouch, or stand as required.
