About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer - Fuzing to join our team at Raytheon Careers. As a key member of our Energetics and Propulsion Department, you will be responsible for developing advanced technologies and concepts for fuzing devices, controllers, software, mechanical, and electrical interfaces for integration into missile systems and space vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop highly advanced technologies and concepts for fuzing devices, controllers, software, mechanical, and electrical interfaces for integration into missile systems and space vehicles.
  • Review manufacturing processes and problem resolution, as well as working directly with subcontractors on the design and manufacturing of fuzing devices.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with program management in long-range program planning.
  • Manage fuzing device development projects and propulsion subcontracts.
  • Provide frontline lead activities and mentor engineers who develop fuzing devices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in fuzing / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree.
  • Twelve or more years of directly related experience in fuzing devices and their applications.
  • Systems knowledge to assure full development of fuzing device requirements and dissemination and flow down to subcomponent levels.
  • Ability to perform fuzing trade studies evaluating different electrical designs and estimate design and production cost and schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and systems.
  • Advocate for process improvement (e.g., CMMI, R6s, etc.), team builder, and ability to build strong relationships and effectively partner with internal and external resources.
