Job Summary

The University of Richmond seeks a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Facilities Operations to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Facilities department. This key role will ensure that university facilities are maintained to meet the needs of the institution in a fiscally responsible manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership of the six sub-departments within Facilities, including Engineering, Facility Operations, Maintenance Services, Landscaping, Custodial, and Staff Training and Development.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring effective financial planning and management.
  • Make tactical and logistical decisions regarding day-to-day operations, campus events, and emergency response situations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to support the university's strategic mission and vision.
  • Monitor and track building conditions, develop capital needs and operational optimization strategies, and introduce new technologies and industry best practices to enhance performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in managing complex facilities operations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and make strategic decisions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial budgets, prioritization, and technical matters, including building maintenance and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
