About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join our Information Systems team at the National Cooperative Business Association. As an integral member of our team, you will collaborate with our IT teams to ensure the safety of our information system assets and protect our systems from unauthorized internal and external access.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Security Project Development and Implementation
    Lead the development, implementation, and automation of our security projects, initiatives, and security controls, including effective security monitoring and alerting. This will involve designing security architecture elements to mitigate threats, creating solutions that align with our enterprise security architecture frameworks and standards, and participating in risk assessments for new technologies and projects.
  2. Security Measures Development and Tracking
    Develop, execute, and track the performance of security measures to protect our information and network infrastructure and architecture. This will involve conducting analysis and monitoring of security controls, performing security assessments as needed, identifying gaps in existing security architecture, and recommending changes or improvements.
  3. Security Infrastructure Support
    Consult with our Tier 1 engineers on troubleshooting, configuration, and maintaining our security infrastructure software and hardware. This will involve assisting with the installation of software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions, monitoring systems for irregular behavior, and setting up preventive measures and incident response processes.
  4. Security Team Support
    Assist our Chief Information Security Officer and Security Team with various tasks, including documenting security requirements and controls, defining and documenting how the implementation of new technologies impacts our security posture, and providing input on security requirements for procurement documents.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or equivalent experience.
  • Industry-recognized security, network, or other professional certifications sponsored by organizations such as SANS, ISC2, Microsoft, Cisco, and Offensive Security. Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIC, CISA, CRISC, are preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex issues and ideas with precision and clarity, adjusting appropriately for the audience.
  • Experience with industry/regulatory requirements and frameworks such as ISO27001, SOC2, PCI/DSS, SOX, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, CIS.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of networking, including Windows, LAN/WAN, routing, firewalls, and cloud services.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
