The Cyber Defense Engineer will play a crucial role within the National Cooperative Bank's Information Security team. - Develop security architecture components aimed at mitigating potential threats.
- Create and implement solutions that align with enterprise security frameworks and standards such as NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, FFIEC, PCI, and CIS, ensuring they support the overall business and security strategy.
- Engage in risk assessments for emerging technologies and projects.
- Implement secure configuration management practices.

- Contribute to the formulation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, identifying and prioritizing critical system functions to ensure resilience in business processes.
- Develop, execute, and monitor security measures designed to protect information and network infrastructure.
- Conduct thorough analysis and monitoring of security controls.

- Perform security assessments as required, identifying vulnerabilities in existing security architecture and recommending necessary improvements.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 engineers to troubleshoot, configure, and maintain security infrastructure components.
- Assist in the deployment of software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.

- Oversee system monitoring for irregular activities, establishing preventive measures and incident response protocols.
- Support the organization during audits, risk assessments, and penetration testing activities.
- Provide assistance to the Chief Information Security Officer and the Security Team.

- Document security requirements and controls necessary for safeguarding information, systems, and technology assets.
- Analyze and document the security implications of new technology implementations.

- Offer insights on security requirements for inclusion in requests for proposals (RFPs), statements of work (SOWs), and other procurement documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, complemented by a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Possession of industry-recognized security, network, or other professional certifications from reputable organizations such as SANS, ISC2, Microsoft, Cisco, and Offensive Security. Preferred certifications include CISSP, CISM, GIC, CISA, and CRISC.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues and ideas clearly to various audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards such as ISO27001, SOC2, PCI/DSS, SOX, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, and CIS.
- Comprehensive understanding of networking concepts (e.g., Windows, LAN/WAN, routing, firewalls, cloud services).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives in a dynamic environment.
