Position Overview: At Armstrong Pumps Inc., the role of an Application Engineer is fundamentally about problem-solving. This individual assesses client requirements for various projects and identifies the most suitable Armstrong solutions tailored to those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become an expert in Design Envelope (DE) solutions, serving as a technical consultant for both internal teams and external partners, including Regional and National Sales Managers, customer service representatives, and consulting engineers.
  • Utilize the RSEC framework to create comprehensive solutions that incorporate all Armstrong products, ensuring customer satisfaction and exceeding expectations.
  • Prepare accurate quotations that align with customer specifications and budgetary constraints while adhering to Armstrong guidelines.
  • Provide essential technical support, product information, and training to both internal staff and clients.
  • Participate in meetings with sales managers to identify customer needs and propose effective design solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of white papers and provide guidance on installation and maintenance, showcasing Armstrong solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Exhibit attention to detail, flexibility, confidence, and the ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly and listening attentively to client requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Work closely with Regional and National Sales Managers to establish yourself as a trusted advisor regarding Armstrong products and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution, preferably in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven knowledge of hydronic systems, engineering practices, and relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, HVAC, and plumbing system design principles.
  • Preferred experience of 2+ years in a related industry, engaging with engineering, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
  • FE/PE license is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel across the US and Canada as required.
  • Commitment to teamwork and professional growth within the HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression sectors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict management skills in diverse organizational structures.
  • Capability to simplify complex issues, conduct root cause analyses, and provide well-considered recommendations.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a proactive approach to achieving results.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintaining a focus on outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills, fostering open and authentic interactions in all scenarios.
