Position Overview

As a Career Development Educator, you will report directly to the Workforce Development Program Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver tailored classroom instruction that encompasses key subjects such as Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Mathematics, and Supply Chain Management. You will also provide guidance to students regarding their options for further training and assist in the development of educational materials, recruitment, enrollment, testing, and retention strategies.

This full-time role plays a vital part in the Workforce Development program, directly impacting job seekers across the Chicagoland area and its suburbs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Duties:
    • Deliver engaging classroom instruction for adult learners, integrating essential subjects to prepare students for vocational programs or community college pathways.
    • Administer assessments to evaluate participant progress and success.
    • Develop and maintain a curriculum that aligns with adult education standards, utilizing diverse instructional methods to cater to varying learning needs.
    • Adapt lesson plans for a multi-level classroom, providing individualized support as necessary.
    • Incorporate digital literacy and career readiness components into the curriculum.
    • Advise students on course requirements and track their progress through personalized education plans.
    • Create a supportive learning environment that fosters creativity and critical thinking.
    • Document attendance and address any inconsistencies, ensuring effective follow-up to enhance retention.
    • Engage in professional development activities to refine teaching practices in accordance with educational best practices.
  • Program Support:
    • Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative initiatives to enhance program delivery.
    • Assist with outreach, orientation, and follow-up activities to ensure student engagement and success.
    • Provide necessary data and reports to the Program Manager to maintain compliance and track program outcomes.
    • Facilitate CPR and BLS training certification for participants on a quarterly basis.
    • Collaborate with team members and partner organizations to ensure comprehensive support for students.
    • Attend recruitment events to promote available programs and services.
    • Refer participants to additional resources within the organization as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Healthcare, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of experience in adult education preferred.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse population of adult learners.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Strong commitment to social justice and understanding of the unique challenges faced by adult learners.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple locations as needed.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and effective instructional strategies.
  • Proficient in analyzing student assessment data and reports.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that foster innovation and retention.
  • Ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
