Position Title: Youth Engagement Specialist - Restorative Practices

Salary Range: $47,000 to $50,000

Position Summary:

The Youth Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in fostering restorative practices within educational environments. This position is designed for a dynamic individual dedicated to creating, executing, and managing restorative justice initiatives aimed at enhancing community ties, addressing conflicts, and mending relationships affected by misconduct.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver on-site restorative services and facilitate comprehensive implementation across educational institutions, focusing on community building and conflict resolution.
  • Guide youth who have engaged in harmful behaviors, offering support to victims and other affected parties, while identifying their needs and empowering them throughout the restorative process.
  • Assess cases and disciplinary referrals to determine suitable restorative actions.
  • Prepare participants and lead restorative circles and conferences.
  • Monitor restorative agreements to ensure compliance and follow-through.
  • Organize program activities, including circle coordination, case management, and data documentation.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to enhance existing programs and explore new service delivery avenues.
  • Provide coaching and support to staff and partners in community-building and restorative practices.
  • Work with various stakeholder groups to integrate restorative justice into current frameworks.
  • Track and analyze restorative justice data to inform decision-making and report on program impact.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and professional development in restorative justice for school personnel.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to develop and implement multi-year plans for restorative practices.
  • Engage stakeholders in the planning and execution of restorative activities.
  • Offer consultation regarding implementation strategies, policy adjustments, and alignment of practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including enrollment forms, attendance records, and program materials.
  • Contribute to the preparation of progress reports for educational leaders as necessary.
  • Build and sustain relationships with parents, community members, and educational staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to the principles of restorative justice.
  • Experience in facilitating restorative circles and implementing restorative practices.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations with both youth and adults.
  • Proven experience in group facilitation and training.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Familiarity with various data management systems.
  • Experience in developing curricula and training resources.
  • Background in a high school educational setting.
  • Knowledge of equity, cultural competency, and effective cross-cultural communication.
Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time role with an annual salary between $47,000 and $50,000. Global Kids offers competitive medical benefits, dental and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation time, personal days, sick leave, and opportunities for travel.
