The primary responsibility of the Youth Engagement Coordinator is to foster a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere that supports the youth involved in the program as they pursue their individual aspirations. This role involves crafting weekly educational sessions and activities while offering support to the Lead Educators and volunteers during the execution of these plans. The Youth Engagement Coordinator is a vital component of the organization's mission to eradicate poverty by nurturing community ties and establishing meaningful connections with children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design a comprehensive curriculum outline for youth aged 5-16 throughout each program cycle, utilizing the organization's youth curriculum as a foundational reference.
  • Create weekly lesson outlines and activities tailored for each age group.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coach and Assistant to ensure adequate staffing and volunteer ratios within the youth initiative.
  • Recruit and train all Lead Educators and volunteers involved in the youth program.
  • Maintain regular communication with Lead Educators regarding upcoming lessons and their specific needs.
  • Effectively communicate with children, staff, parents, and volunteers, managing any conflicts that arise and documenting incidents as necessary.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for youth participating in the programs.
  • Participate in weekly organizational meetings and provide general oversight and support to the youth initiative.
  • Implement appropriate security measures and protocols within the programming.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience working with youth and families from varied socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational abilities: detail-oriented with effective follow-through.
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt flexibly while remaining composed in challenging situations.
  • Familiarity with community resources available for families.
  • Willingness to engage with local youth and family service organizations.
  • Flexible scheduling, including availability to work up to two evenings per week.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to coordinate and oversee volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and Excel.
  • Reliable means of transportation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employees will be present during weekly meetings and will actively engage in youth programming, which entails standing, sitting, and frequent movement.
