Job Overview:

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will manage a caseload of 10 participants, focusing on youth aged 12-18. This role involves facilitating group sessions, ideally utilizing Restorative Justice methodologies. The Coordinator will conduct individual meetings with participants to review their progress within the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct daily evaluations with participants, discussing key performance indicators such as Attendance, Preparedness, Performance, Attitude, and Participation.
  2. Supervise a Work Team at various project sites, ensuring effective collaboration and support.
  3. Engage with participants across different stages of the program, including Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Summer phases.
  4. Collaborate closely with probation officers to achieve program objectives.

Program Goals:

The primary aim of this initiative is to foster transformative relationships that empower participants to thrive in their educational and community environments. By enhancing their social, emotional, and vocational skills, we strive to promote law-abiding lifestyles and reduce recidivism rates.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with at-risk youth is required. Candidates must demonstrate creativity and initiative, particularly in engaging adolescents.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in youth development.
  • Experience in group facilitation and teamwork.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on building effective relationships with youth and colleagues.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by Black and Latino adolescents.
  • Ability to apply a multicultural approach when working with diverse youth populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with the juvenile justice system and anti-gun violence initiatives is also advantageous.
