Position Overview

The Project Operations Manager will collaborate closely with engineering teams to oversee the execution of development initiatives and projects. This role involves engaging with management to achieve project goals and ensuring the timely delivery of defined technical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct daily operations to meet contract requirements, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and performance metrics.
  • Facilitate all project meetings and lead the integrated product team from initiation through to project completion.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders regarding existing contracts.
  • Contribute to bid and proposal efforts, ensuring compliance with request for proposal requirements.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in collaboration with the Business Development team.
  • Represent management in program reviews and other relevant forums.
  • Engage in contract negotiations while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop and implement project plans and schedules, managing contract budgets effectively.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, obtaining necessary approvals for significant decisions.
  • Collaborate with various project teams on task execution and engineering changes.
  • Address and escalate any schedule or budget issues to senior management, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct variance analysis on project schedules and costs, presenting findings to senior management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding contract execution and resolve any contractual issues.
  • Work with Contracts Administration to address contract requirements and changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Provide leadership to the project team, fostering communication and collaboration among members.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely closure of completed projects, confirming all obligations are fulfilled and documentation is accurate.
  • Develop and implement strategies for program corrective actions.
  • Engage with stakeholders to enhance planning processes and system improvements.
  • Understand and apply principles of program planning and cash flow management.
  • Implement process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Support and promote the mission, values, and culture of Leonardo DRS.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred fields of study include Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business.
  • Familiarity with program management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Experience with the program lifecycle, including proposal development and risk management.
  • Knowledge of earned value management and reporting metrics.
  • Exposure to finance, contracting, engineering, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent customer interface and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication abilities.
  • Experience in manpower planning, project reviews, and budget control.
  • Ability to manage aerospace and defense programs effectively.
  • Program Management certification (e.g., PMP or DAU) is preferred.

U.S. Citizenship is required for this position, which also necessitates an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain one shortly after starting employment.
