Position Summary
The Environmental Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in promoting our Safety Culture, working closely with the leadership team. This role is essential in ensuring that all facilities are equipped with the necessary incident management frameworks, protocols, resources, and collaborations to effectively prevent or address emergencies, including fires and hazardous material incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement facility-specific Incident Management Systems.
  • Train and mentor facility-specific Incident Managers.
  • Act as an alternate Incident Manager when required.
  • Educate command personnel on NIMS structures and protocols.
  • Develop, maintain, and conduct drills for emergency preparedness and response strategies, including hazardous materials and fire safety.
  • Build relationships with emergency response agencies and ensure that appropriate agreements are established.
  • Facilitate tabletop exercises with local fire departments and other emergency response entities.
  • Engage in Local Emergency Planning Committees.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Collaboratives.
  • Oversee the development and auditing of monitoring and fire response systems and supplies.
  • Coordinate and evaluate facility evacuation drills and post-drill assessments.
  • Manage Tier II reporting requirements.
  • Prepare the organization for unannounced government exercises.
  • Conduct risk management audits in collaboration with insurance providers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or Fire Science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in managing safety or environmental initiatives.
  • ISO 45001 or 14001 auditor certification.
  • Professional certification from recognized bodies in industrial hygiene or environmental practices.
  • Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
Requirements
  • Strong mathematical and writing skills.
  • Proficient in technology and software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must meet criteria for obtaining necessary identification credentials.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing stairs and lifting up to 40 lbs.
