Role Overview:
We are looking for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for various assemblies, equipment installations, machining, and material handling. This role involves:

  • Creating efficient arrangements of machinery within plant facilities to maximize productivity.
  • Developing operational sequences and specifying procedures for tool and equipment fabrication that enhance product performance.
  • Adapting machine or equipment designs to align with factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporating inspection and testing requirements into production plans.
  • Evaluating machinery, equipment, and tools to ensure operational efficiency and addressing any deficiencies to maintain product quality.
  • Establishing manufacturing processes that comply with statistical process control methodologies.
  • Providing engineering guidance on design concepts and specifications to optimize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance for processes and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a Master's degree, or no experience with a PhD.
  • The ability to interpret engineering specifications and requirements.
  • Experience with 3D model-based definitions and CAD.
  • Skills in creating work instructions and visual aids.
  • Capability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment to resolve issues related to manufacturing tasks.
  • An active DOD secret clearance granted or renewed within the last 5 years.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing or Operations Support.
  • Current Special Program Access.
  • Experience in developing procedures or process manuals.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design software, preferably CATIA.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $97,500 - $146,300. This range serves as a general guideline, as Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the role's scope, responsibilities, and the candidate's qualifications.
