The Aeronautics Systems sector is in search of an Associate Automation Manufacturing Engineer / Automation Manufacturing Engineer to become a vital member of our skilled and diverse team. This role will be based at our Palmdale, CA Center of Excellence, where technology and collaboration converge.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, your duties will encompass:
  1. Providing insights to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure optimal manufacturing techniques align with Engineering designs.
  2. Participating in tool design evaluations to confirm feasibility and minimize assembly time and program costs.
  3. Defining operational sequences for product assembly.
  4. Investigating and initiating corrective measures for non-conforming products while identifying opportunities for improvement in producibility and cost-effectiveness.

As part of the Advanced Automation team, you will:
  1. Define, develop, implement, and transition innovative technology solutions to manufacturing, enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving quality.
  2. Work on manufacturing concepts and process solutions for production applications, covering advanced technologies such as composites fabrication, assembly, automation, inspection, and digital capabilities.
  3. Incorporate requirements into development plans and assess the performance of processes and tools to ensure their effectiveness.

Additionally, you will:
  1. Identify and address issues and deficiencies to meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives while maintaining product quality.
  2. Provide guidance on design concepts and support the successful implementation of new solution capabilities in production.
  3. Ensure compliance with regulations and best practices in processes and procedures.

This role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including program offices, engineering teams, and executive management. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic work environment, supporting leadership in maintaining budgetary responsibilities and project management goals.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with no prior experience in production assembly/fabrication, including composites, machining, coatings application, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing operations with a solid understanding of processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with machining, robotics, or numerical control programming.
  • Knowledge of composites, automation, heating systems, or coatings application.
  • Experience with Process Work Instructions (PWI).
  • Ability to create work instructions, training materials, and visual aids.
  • Experience in reviewing and interpreting blueprints and 3-D models.
  • Hands-on experience in a production assembly line environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting systems and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of leadership, engineering, production, customers, and suppliers.
  • Active DOD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience in project management and execution.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems and ERP systems.
  • Experience in solid modeling design using NX Siemens, CATIA, or Solid Works.
  • Innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Project, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Involvement in Transition to Production activities.
  • Preferred Secret or Top-Secret clearance.
