Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer to join our diverse and skilled team.

This role requires on-site engagement where technology and collaboration converge.

The selected candidate will integrate into Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering Team, working in a cooperative atmosphere while fostering a positive and proactive teamwork culture.


Key Responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineering Include:
Provide insights to Engineering on design concepts to ensure optimal manufacturing techniques align with engineering specifications.

Engage in tool design evaluations to confirm feasibility and minimize assembly time and program expenses.

Outline operational sequences for product assembly, investigate and initiate corrective measures for non-conforming products, and identify enhancement opportunities in areas demanding producibility and cost-effectiveness.

Offer liaison support for Engineering definitions to influence cost-effective production for integrated assembly related to electrical, hydraulic, fuel, fluid, and propulsion systems.


Manufacturing Engineers within Aeronautics Systems are expected to deliver technical solutions to a broad spectrum of complex challenges.

They are adept problem solvers capable of providing innovative, thorough, practical results that align with organizational goals.

We seek Manufacturing Engineers who possess a distinctive skill set, including a hands-on approach and serve as the technical representative for the Manufacturing organization.


Basic Qualifications for Junior Manufacturing Engineer (Level 1):
Bachelor's Degree with no prior experience in production assembly/fabrication, including composites, metals, coatings application, and/or manufacturing operations.

Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of leadership, clients, and suppliers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Willingness to work 1st shift "5:00am-3:30pm" or 2nd shift "4:12pm-2:42am" and any flexible work schedule (times may vary).

Physical Demands:

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to:

Navigate through the manufacturing/production environment, utilizing tooling, stands, ladders, etc., while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and occasionally enter confined spaces.


Ability to work for extended periods at a workstation on a computer or similar device for up to 10 hours during a shift.

Occasional extended periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.

Ability to wear PPE as required (including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jackets, or aprons).

All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any time, and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment (requires minimal or no facial hair).

Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility and operate all machinery.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.

Basic Qualifications for Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2):
Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of experience OR Master's Degree with no experience in a manufacturing environment, production assembly/fabrication including composites, metals, coatings application, and/or manufacturing operations.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of leadership, clients, and suppliers.

Experience in reviewing and interpreting blueprints and 3-D models.

Willingness to work 1st shift "5am-3:30pm" or 2nd shift "4:12pm-2:42am" and/or any flexible work schedule (times may vary).

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software - CATIA V5 preferred.

Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

Experience in aircraft assembly.

Basic understanding of data analysis and proficiency in Excel.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation capabilities.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

High level of dependability and self-motivation.

Adaptability and eagerness to learn new skills and technologies.

Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Salary Range:
$65,600 - $98,400

Salary Range 2:
$79,300 - $118,900


The salary range provided serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
