Position Overview

Astronics-PECO, situated in the scenic Clackamas, Oregon, specializes in the design, certification, manufacturing, and distribution of a diverse array of products catering to commercial, governmental, and military sectors globally. Our meticulously engineered aerospace interior and structural products are provided to leading aircraft manufacturers and are utilized in aircraft worldwide. The Max-Viz enhanced vision systems (EVS) are crafted and certified to enhance safety across various aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles in both commercial and military domains. PECO-Controls are recognized temperature regulation devices tailored for high-quality applications, including hospitality and commercial cooking.

We are in search of a skilled Production Process Engineer to become a vital part of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary aim of this role is to devise and execute optimal, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and methodologies in alignment with product specifications and quality benchmarks. This includes ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations while meeting company standards.

Main Duties:
  • Suggests and implements enhancements to production workflows, methodologies, and controls, including assembly techniques and production machinery.
  • Oversees the manufacturing initiation for new or modified products, setting objectives, training personnel, and assessing outcomes.
  • Precisely develops and maintains bills of materials and manufacturing strategies.
  • Independently drives continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and addressing inefficient processes or systems.
  • Conducts product/process evaluations aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and increased efficiency.
  • Designs, develops, tests, and/or sources and justifies costs for various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing techniques.
  • Engages in direct communication with clients and suppliers.
  • Travels to clients and suppliers to support ongoing projects.
  • Creates manufacturing plans and costed bills of materials to assist in quoting processes.
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain, Planning, and Operations to ensure appropriate lead times and costs in the ERP system, maintaining optimal stock levels.
  • Conducts and documents time studies.
  • Mentors junior Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Assists Operations staff in problem-solving and removing production barriers.
  • Participates in Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly.
Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards is highly desirable.
  • Experience with automation technologies is a plus.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of data requirements for effective ERP/MRP system operations.
  • Proficient in general computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Adept at problem analysis and resolution.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
  • Strong grasp of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma process control methodologies.
  • Excellent project management capabilities, including the ability to lead and direct teams.
  • Ability to plan and strategize over a 3 to 6-month horizon.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
