Position Overview:

Preparation:

Objective: To evaluate patterns and establish assembly techniques.

Typical Activities:

  • Conduct pre-inspections of patterns and gating elements before commencing assembly.
  • Interpret and adhere to detailed assembly instructions, which outline various unique steps of a complex nature; strategize methods for completing assignments and select appropriate assembly techniques.

Assembly:

Objective: To precisely assemble complex multi-component patterns while maintaining dimensional accuracy.

Typical Activities:

  • Utilize tools such as torches and hot pencils to assemble intricate wax patterns and gating components.
  • Secure gates in position using torches or hot pencils.
  • Employ full-time assembly fixtures to ensure dimensional control and stability during the assembly of complex patterns.
  • Adjust fixture/pattern components to rectify configuration discrepancies and confirm dimensional integrity.
  • Refine and measure the assembly contact areas using hot pencils, torches, or paint seal.
  • Regularly modify gates by reshaping or splicing to achieve optimal fit.
  • Fabricate basic gating from raw materials as needed.
  • May create code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations from standard assemblies.
  • Inspect challenging assemblies throughout and post-assembly for defects and quality assurance.

Safety:

Objective: To uphold and demonstrate safe working practices.

Typical Activities:

  • Comply with all plant and departmental safety regulations.
  • Safely operate all machinery and tools.
  • Identify and report safety concerns.
  • May mentor less experienced assemblers as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Training:

  • On-the-job training will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Two years of experience in production wax assembly.
  • Alternatively: A combination of relevant experience and training.
  • Comprehensive understanding of assembly techniques, materials, and construction methods.
  • Ability to follow and communicate complex instructions, both written and verbal, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Proven manual dexterity.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver objects weighing between thirty to fifty pounds, occasionally up to one hundred twenty-five pounds.
  • Ability to work in environments that may involve exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals.
