On-Site Service Operations Leader

Position Overview

The On-Site Service Operations Leader is responsible for overseeing the field service team tasked with delivering on-site routine operations, which encompass installation, maintenance, and repair services. This role includes managing various projects associated with Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) operations, ensuring all necessary permits, construction activities, and preliminary documentation are completed efficiently while maintaining positive relations with municipal entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise contractors, material suppliers, inspectors, and all activities related to engineering, permitting, construction, and splicing.
  • Engage with clients for site assessments and service delivery.
  • Conduct cost estimation, preliminary engineering, and production tracking using tools such as Site Tracker and 3GIS.
  • Manage troubleshooting, emergency restoration, and disaster recovery efforts for network assets.
  • Collaborate with state and local permitting authorities and other relevant organizations as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, etc.), Site Tracker, Google Earth, 3GIS, and other mapping applications.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Additional Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interpret mapping software and key identifiers within a fiber optic network, as well as utilize GPS technology for network positioning.
  • Experience coordinating splicing and testing of Fiber Optic Cables (FOC), including familiarity with power meters, light sources, Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), and fusion splice equipment.
  • Understanding of "Call Before You Dig" regulations pertinent to utility network providers.
  • Knowledge of grounding principles applicable to underground utility networks.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations relevant to the maintenance and repair of fiber optic networks.
  • Capability to operate a Fiber Optic Cable monitoring system.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Proficient in speaking, writing, reading, and comprehending English.
  • Visual acuity is required.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
