Core Responsibilities:

The Service Operations Technician (SOT) plays a vital role in the upkeep and servicing of USA Compression machinery, reporting directly to the Area Service Manager (ASM). Operating with a high degree of independence, the SOT is tasked with executing scheduled maintenance, fostering customer relationships, and delivering initial support for equipment diagnostics. Our team members are committed to upholding a safe, professional work environment that aligns with our core values.

Key Duties:

  • Implement a routine maintenance strategy to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Adhere to company policies and all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of natural gas compression units as per contractual obligations.
  • Collect and prepare critical operational data for timely reporting.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the ASM or customers.
  • Assist in the installation of compression units and collaborate with customers during setup.
  • Work alongside the Lead Service Technician and ASM on significant repairs, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Maintain and operate the company vehicle in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify potential sales or equipment opportunities.
  • Manage parts inventory to ensure availability for each unit.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards for all assigned units.
  • Perform any additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • This is a full-time hourly position.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues, as this role involves significant customer engagement.
  • Technical or vocational training or relevant work experience in a related field.
  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience in gas compression, with a focus on CAT, Ariel, and/or Cummins certifications.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in interpreting technical manuals.
  • Capable of safely operating commercial vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in configuring natural gas compression systems.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including on-call weekends.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions from the company and supervisors.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Work Environment:
  • The typical workday for an SOT involves traveling to customer sites in a USA Compression service vehicle to conduct maintenance and repair tasks. The position requires a rotation of 14 days on/off away from home.
  • Physical demands may include lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders, and perform various physical tasks as required.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures based on job location.
  • Some exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection, as well as potentially hazardous materials.
  • Work conditions can vary significantly between indoor compressor stations and outdoor sites.
  • Safety is paramount when operating heavy machinery and equipment.
