Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

*12-hour rotating shifts: Days: 7am-7pm, Nights: 7pm-7am

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Execute routine operational tasks and general upkeep of machinery.
  • Meet production line standards while maintaining quality and safety protocols.
  • Detect and rectify any substandard film materials.
  • Compile and uphold daily production and quality documentation.
  • Label rolls accurately according to specifications, including size, material type, gauge, and operator identification.
  • Package completed laminate products.
  • Create bails and band materials as required.
  • Cut cores to specified lengths.
  • Utilize a utility knife for waste material removal, trimming, and packaging of laminate rolls in line with machine cycles and quality standards.
  • Operate hoists and/or forklifts for loading and unloading rolls; conduct hoist inspections each shift to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain hourly charts, Kaizen reports, and other documentation in alignment with Lean principles.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the assigned workspace in accordance with Lean methodologies.
  • Comply with all Lamination/Slitting Shift Safety Policy Deployment targets for continuous improvement.
  • Verify machine settings and safety devices prior to operation, adjust controls, initiate machines, and load materials.
  • Demonstrate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures on Slitting and Lamination equipment.
  • Understand and complete production paperwork as outlined by standard operating procedures.
  • Interpret Lamination/Slitting production countdowns to effectively fulfill production orders.
  • Adhere to established Standard Operating Conditions for all product SKUs in the Lamination inventory.
  • Conduct quality control assessments of all materials produced in the Lamination process.
  • Thread film through machinery and verify specifications for type and dimensions.
  • Perform changeovers on the Laminator.
  • Execute basic troubleshooting on the Laminator for issues such as air pockets, foldovers, pleats, wrinkles, and other process-related challenges.
  • Regulate machine temperature, pressure, and operational speeds during the lamination process.
  • Remove waste material, trim, and laminate rolls in accordance with machine cycles and quality standards.
  • Monitor the Lamination process for surface and quality defects.
  • Possess the ability to cross-train in Slitting and Thermal Lamination.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Willingness to work all shifts and perform overtime as needed.
  • Prior experience as a quality control inspector is preferred.
  • Future training and/or education may be necessary to enhance job skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedure documents. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence, and effectively communicating before groups.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and resolve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Virtual Client for effective daily operations.
  • Skilled in visual inspection processes and able to read and apply technical specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be capable of moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting required.
  • Regular use of hands for handling machinery.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity is necessary.
