Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

*12-hour rotating shifts: Days: 7am-7pm, Nights: 7pm-7am

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Execute standard operational tasks and perform routine maintenance.
  • Meet production line targets while ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld.
  • Detect and rectify any substandard materials.
  • Compile and maintain daily production and quality documentation.
  • Accurately label and print rolls based on specifications (size, material type, gauge, shift, and operator number).
  • Prepare finished laminate for packaging.
  • Create bails and band materials as required.
  • Cut cores to specified lengths.
  • Utilize a utility knife for waste material removal, trimming, and packaging laminate rolls according to machine cycles and quality standards.
  • Operate hoists and/or forklifts for roll loading and unloading; conduct safety inspections of hoists each shift.
  • Maintain documentation in line with Lean principles, including hour-by-hour charts and Kaizen reports.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the work area in accordance with Lean methodologies.
  • Comply with all Lamination/Slitting Shift Safety Policy targets to enhance performance.
  • Verify machine settings and safety devices prior to operation, set controls, initiate machines, and load materials.
  • Demonstrate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures on Slitting and Lamination equipment.
  • Understand and complete production paperwork as per standard operating procedures.
  • Interpret Lamination/Slitting production countdowns to efficiently fulfill production orders.
  • Adhere to established Standard Operating Conditions for all product SKUs in the Lamination inventory.
  • Conduct quality control assessments on all materials produced in the Lamination process.
  • Thread film through machinery and confirm type and dimensions meet specifications.
  • Perform changeovers on the Laminator as necessary.
  • Address basic troubleshooting on the Laminator for issues such as air pockets, foldovers, pleats, wrinkles, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Regulate machine temperature, pressure, and operational speeds during the lamination process.
  • Trim waste material and laminate rolls in accordance with machine cycles and quality specifications.
  • Monitor the Lamination process for surface and quality defects.
  • Possess the ability to cross-train in Slitting and Thermal Lamination.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to work all shifts and perform overtime as needed.
  • Prior experience in quality control inspection is preferred.
  • Future training and/or education may be required to enhance job skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to groups.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems involving multiple concrete variables.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with Virtual Client for daily tasks.
  • Competence in visual inspection processes and ability to read and apply technical specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be capable of moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting required.
  • Regular use of hands for operating machinery.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for the role.
