About Methodist Children's Hospital

Established in 1998, Methodist Children's Hospital is the first hospital in San Antonio and South Texas specifically designed for pediatric care, featuring over 200 beds. Our facility is renowned for its exceptional pediatric services across various specialties, including pediatric heart surgery, pulmonology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and more.

Our recent expansion has added a new tower, increasing our campus by 445,000 square feet, which includes 150 patient rooms and a cutting-edge children's imaging department. Our Level IV NICU is the largest in the region, equipped with over 90 beds and staffed by board-certified neonatologists available 24/7, ensuring the highest standard of neonatal care.

Role Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all departmental functions during their shift. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating admission and discharge processes to enhance patient flow and care quality.
  • Engaging in continuous assessment of patient care services alongside the management team.
  • Collaborating with experts to foster a teamwork-oriented environment that promotes positive outcomes.
  • Upholding a patient-first philosophy and addressing service recovery as needed.
  • Implementing nursing strategies to improve staff engagement and patient care.
  • Assisting in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Managing staff schedules in alignment with patient care needs.
  • Overseeing inventory control and supply management.

Qualifications Required

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Texas or a Compact State.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac ICU/CVICU or Critical Care nursing.
