Position Overview

The Pediatric Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) plays a vital role in delivering exceptional, patient-focused care and overseeing all operational functions within the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit during assigned shifts. Collaborating closely with the management team, the CNC ensures that nursing care adheres to established protocols and standards, serving as a key resource for nursing staff while embodying the organization's mission and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates smooth admission and discharge processes to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Engages in continuous evaluation of patient care quality in partnership with management team members.
  • Works alongside subject matter experts and fellow managers to foster a collaborative environment that drives improved patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Embraces a patient-centered philosophy and participates in service recovery initiatives as needed.
  • Contributes to enhancing staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly checks.
  • Provides input on recruitment, selection, and training of new personnel, and recommends actions regarding staff development, conflict resolution, and compliance with personnel policies.
  • Assists in staff scheduling and manages labor resources in line with patient care demands and productivity benchmarks.
  • Ensures effective inventory management and assists in the oversight of supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Texas or a Compact State.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a diploma from an accredited nursing program.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac ICU/CVICU or Critical Care nursing.
