Engineering Manager

R&R LLC is seeking an experienced Manager to oversee our team of Process Engineers, Technicians, and Maintenance personnel. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The Engineering Manager will lead a dedicated team, which includes Process Technicians, Process Engineers, and an Engineering Intern, alongside a Maintenance Manager and a team of Maintenance Technicians. The primary focus will be on supporting, managing, and supervising this skilled group of professionals.

Most challenges faced by the team will revolve around mechanical issues. However, there is a notable gap in PLC and Controls troubleshooting skills within the team. Therefore, it is essential for the Engineering Manager to possess sufficient knowledge to mentor and guide team members in troubleshooting Ladder Logic and Controls, without necessarily programming them.

This role comprises approximately 70-80% management and project oversight, with about 20% dedicated to hands-on troubleshooting as an individual contributor. The Engineering Manager will manage various projects and implementation initiatives, including new equipment installations, major equipment upgrades, and program rollouts. Additionally, the Manager will address escalations from both the Engineering and Maintenance teams when they encounter challenges.

  • Work Schedule:
  • Day Shift, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility is required, with occasional off-shift work as needed.
  • The facility operates on three shifts, with potential Saturday work.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in large-scale manufacturing and production (not limited to R&D or design).
  • Proficient in troubleshooting manufacturing and production issues.
  • Experienced in managing significant upgrades and projects.
  • Knowledgeable in implementing new machinery and launching new programs.
  • Experienced in making substantial changes to production processes.
  • At least 3-5 years of Engineering Management or supervisory experience.
  • Solid background in quality assurance and process standardization.
  • Experience in high-volume plastics production is a plus.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline is required (Mechanical, Industrial, or similar).

Technical Expertise:

  • Machinery:
  • Thermoformers, Die Cutters, Injection Molders, Extruders.
  • Standard mechanical components including hydraulics, servos, drives, and motors.
  • Controls (PLCs) and Robotics (Fanuc).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Management:
  • Training, delegating, and developing a proficient Engineering and Maintenance team.
  • Ensuring the team enhances its capabilities and skills under your leadership.
  • Software Utilization: Proficient use of Plex (ERP) for managing maintenance work orders, alongside standard Microsoft applications.
  • Documentation Management: Ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation, including plant floor plans.
  • Troubleshooting Focus: Emphasizing quality implementation and process standardization.
