Position Overview:
The Bartender plays a crucial role in delivering beverage services, encompassing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. This position requires a friendly demeanor, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must exhibit excellent attendance and be available to work events as needed.

Compensation:
This role offers an hourly wage starting at $10, plus tips.

Part-Time Benefits:
Eligible part-time employees can take advantage of a 401(k) savings plan along with matching contributions.

Continuous Hiring:
This is an evergreen position, meaning applications are accepted continuously without a specific deadline.

Venue Information:
The Iowa Events Center is a multifaceted facility spanning 260,000 square feet, designed to host a variety of events. From sophisticated galas and fundraisers to weddings, conventions, and expos, we accommodate over 400 unique events annually. Our expansive venue is adaptable to nearly any vision, ensuring that each event is distinctive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit exceptional guest service and maintain professional interactions with colleagues.
  • Adhere to bar pre-shift notes and menus, providing service as outlined.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Possess knowledge of various beer, wine, and spirit options, with the ability to suggestively upsell to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly, following company standards for serving sizes.
  • Verify guests' identification to ensure compliance with age restrictions for alcohol purchases.
  • Communicate cut-off times to guests as necessary.
  • Respond to customer requests and concerns promptly.
  • Request additional products or restock as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, ensuring bar equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including the setup and breakdown of bar equipment and assisting with cooler organization.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience of six months or more in bartending, though not mandatory.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Self-motivated while being a collaborative team player.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
