POSITION SUMMARY:

The Control Systems Automation Specialist plays a crucial role within the team, ensuring the effective operation of Targa's Pipeline Gas Plant and Field Automation HMI/PLC hardware and software systems. This position is primarily focused on the Permian operational area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver Project Management and Technical assistance for Automation systems in the Field and Plant.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to uphold established standards for Gas Plant and Field Automation Systems.
  • Execute modifications based on control narratives and Cause & Effect documentation.
  • Partner with Operations & Maintenance groups to guarantee the efficient and reliable functionality of maintainable systems, providing expertise for ongoing Automation projects.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of design standards, templates, and tools for Automation Systems.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to assess operational needs and requirements for Automation systems.
  • Oversee the implementation of Field and Gas Plant Automation projects, including engineering oversight, task management, and integrating lessons learned during project execution.
  • This role may require travel (less than 40%).
  • Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in automation design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with software HMI/PLC/DCS systems.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience in HMI and PLC/DCS Systems Design Engineering.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and project design experience with HMI Systems and PLC/DCS, with full responsibility.
  • Expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500, and MicroLogix 1400.
  • Knowledge of other PLCs such as GE, Modicon, Bristol, and Scadapack is advantageous.
  • Proficient in industry-standard HMI software and platforms, including Wonderware System Platform and Rockwell FactoryTalk.
  • Familiarity with DSC systems like DeltaV, Honeywell, and GE Matrix is a plus.
  • Understanding of programming languages, UI design, and databases.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong technical writing skills for developing design standards and specifications.
  • Able to collaborate effectively as a team member and lead cross-functional engineering groups.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and installation methods.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Vision adequate to read computer screens, reports, and related documents.
  • Hearing sufficient to comprehend verbal instructions and engage in normal conversations.
  • Speech sufficient for effective communication in person and over the phone.
  • Dexterity adequate to operate computers and related office equipment.
  • Strength sufficient to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Endurance sufficient to maintain productivity throughout the work shift.
