Role Summary: As an Automation Technician I, you will be tasked with the installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation systems. This includes pump-off controllers, injection well controllers, and the integration of end devices and communication setups.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:

As an Automation Technician I, you will maintain and repair various automation and electrical equipment related to upstream oil and gas operations.

You will provide on-site automation assistance for upstream oil and gas operations.

You will act as a technical resource for facility control systems and field instrumentation, including level, pressure, flow, and vibration instruments.

You will ensure that maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with industry and corporate standards.

You will adhere to PLC programming standards and procedures, identifying areas for improvement in instrumentation and control systems.

You will utilize CMMS, such as SAP, to streamline maintenance operations.

Required Competencies:

Intermediate knowledge of PLC programming in function block, ladder logic, and structured text.

Intermediate knowledge of local HMI operator interfaces.

Advanced understanding of technical standards including API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Capacity to perform under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong written, verbal, and project management skills.

Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective time management skills.

Ability to interact positively with clients and customers.

Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Effective communication with management, technical, and field personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

2-year degree in Instrumentation or Automation technology, or equivalent technical experience with a proven safety record.

In lieu of a degree, 2+ years as an O&G Automation Technician, with intermediate knowledge of well RTU designs, programming, troubleshooting, and various communication protocols.

Experience with Allen-Bradley and Rosemount software is essential.

Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Ability to travel to various job sites as needed.

Must meet all conditional job offer requirements including background checks and drug screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Automation or 3+ years of oilfield experience, along with 3+ years of upstream oil and gas automation experience.

Ability to read and interpret Cause & Effects, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.

Capability to troubleshoot control networks for well sites and related facilities using various communication technologies.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, and perform physical activities such as walking, bending, and stooping.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators, and respond to visual and audible alarms.
