Job Summary

The San Diego State University School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will be primarily involved in National Institute of Health (NIH) funded research projects related to improving the health of all sexual and gender minorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pursue independent data analysis and manuscript development on multiple existing datasets focused on improving mental health, reducing substance use, preventing violence, and decreasing HIV/STI transmission.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator and Program Manager with research-related activities, including IRB renewals, grant reports, grant proposal supplementary materials, and research participant recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Develop and implement clinical interventions and research studies to improve the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority populations.
  • Collaborate with the research team to design and implement studies, collect and analyze data, and disseminate research findings.
  • Participate in mentoring current students and research staff, and attend seminars, colloquia, and other educational activities at San Diego State University and the University of California San Diego.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, epidemiology, public health, social and behavioral sciences, or related fields.
  • Training and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis with large databases, and experience with longitudinal research methods and data analysis.
  • Experience using statistical software programs Stata and R.
  • Experience working with sexual and gender minority populations, and experience with clinical interventions.

The position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, temporary position with a duration of two years, renewable for an additional year contingent on funding and performance.
