Job Description

Wood plc is currently recruiting for a Senior Wells Engineer to support our Consulting business in the energy industry. This is a contract position, on call as needed with an expected duration of 12 months. Due to the nature of the position, we will consider qualified local candidates only at this time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Drilling Plans: Create detailed plans and schematics for drilling operations, including well design, casing, tubing programs, and materials selection for wells in various industries.
  • Procurement and Resource Management: Assist with and at times lead the procurement of required resources and services pertaining to well operations.
  • Drilling Operations Supervision: Supervise drilling operations to ensure they are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget.
  • Subsurface Data Analysis: Analyze subsurface data and work closely with the subsurface team to optimize well placement, performance, and successful delivery.
  • Project Cost Management: Monitor and regulate project costs to ensure budgetary efficiency.
  • Well Intervention Planning: Plan and execute well intervention activities for well performance maintenance or enhancement.
  • Well Permitting: Assist with and at times lead the writing and stewarding of well permits.
  • Client Communication: Engage with clients for the purpose of communicating critical information and presenting on project deliverables.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as an expert technical interface as required for peer reviews, partner's meetings, etc.
  • Mentorship: Mentor less-experienced engineers in software, design, and delivery.
  • Compliance: Comply with the Company HSE Policy and Quality Management System (QMS).
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years applicable experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Drilling Operations Experience: Minimum of 15 years experience in drilling operations and well engineering for onshore and offshore settings.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated industry leadership experience a strong asset.
  • Software Expertise: Advanced expertise with well design softwares.
  • Completion Technologies: Expertise in various types of completion technologies and strategies.
  • Technical and Team Leadership: Demonstrated Technical and Team Leadership skills.
  • Analytical and Organizational Skills: Excellent Analytical and Organizational skills.
  • Subsurface Geology: An understanding of Subsurface Geology and its impact on well and completions design.
  • Communication Skills: Strong Written and Oral Communication capability required.
  • Well Permitting Requirements: Detailed understanding of well permitting requirements.
  • Citizenship: Must be a US citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
