Your Role:

As a Casualty Specialist, you will be designated as the owning adjuster when injury exposure is identified. You will manage both represented and unrepresented first and third-party cases, with an independent settlement authority of up to $25,000. Your responsibilities will span multiple states, including those where you are licensed and statutory states. You will also handle low complexity property damage claims related to homeowner liability.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Owning Adjuster upon identification of injury exposure.
  • Manage primarily simple to moderate first and third-party auto liability cases involving injury, addressing both unrepresented and attorney-represented claimants.
  • Handle first-party Medical Payment and PIP claims as necessary.
  • Assist in activities related to catastrophes, including managing straightforward homeowner losses.
  • Oversee, investigate, negotiate, settle, and resolve injury claims with exposure valued below $25,000.
  • Communicate effectively through written, telephonic, and electronic means.
  • Self-manage productivity by seeking claim assignments through designated queues in the claims system.
  • Make coverage determinations and guide customers regarding appropriate actions related to coverage issues.
  • Conduct investigative work of a complex nature, including interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence.
  • Occasionally represent the insured and/or the company at settlement conferences.
  • On rare occasions, represent insureds at arbitrations and trials.
  • Provide testimony in deposition settings when required.
  • Evaluate subrogation potential and initiate initial notice of subrogation requests.
  • Make final settlement decisions within your authority and develop negotiation strategies.
  • Present cases in committee settings when seeking approval for settlements above your authority level, and subsequently negotiate and settle claims independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED, or a minimum of three years of experience in a casualty claims role within the property and casualty insurance sector.
  • Two to three years of claims experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Customer service orientation and basic math and computer skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to complete training courses relevant to job duties.
  • Developing understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of AAA claims policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work extended hours or weekends as needed.
  • Courses to secure an Oklahoma adjuster's license are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of casualty experience.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Demonstrated respect for diversity through excellent communication skills with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Active participation in shaping company culture through involvement in employee resource groups and community service.
  • Commitment to fulfilling business needs, including investing extra time and assisting other teams.
