Position Overview:We are seeking a Senior Casualty Specialist who will be responsible for managing claims with injury exposures exceeding $25,000, which may involve significant and catastrophic injuries. This role includes handling both represented and unrepresented first and third-party claims, with an independent settlement authority of up to $15,000. The specialist will manage claims across various states, including those requiring specific licenses, and will address homeowner liability property damage claims. Additionally, the role may involve overseeing less complex claims during catastrophic events and handling first-party non-liability injury claims.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the primary adjuster for identified injury exposures.
- Manage a diverse range of claims, including complex first and third-party auto, homeowners, and watercraft cases involving injuries, as well as first-party Medical Payment and Uninsured Motorists claims.
- Determine coverage and communicate the appropriate actions to customers regarding coverage issues.
- Conduct thorough investigations, which may include witness interviews and evidence analysis, to assess the need for independent medical examinations.
- Make determinations regarding liability.
- Evaluate subrogation potential and initiate subrogation requests as necessary.
- Contribute to the company culture through participation in employee resource groups and community service.
- Embrace cultural norms by fostering relationships and supporting new team members.
- Address business needs by dedicating additional time and assisting other teams as required.
- Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, risk management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- A minimum of 6-7 years of claims experience, with at least 3-5 years focused on casualty claims.
