Position Overview:

QinetiQ US is in search of a seasoned Aerospace Operations Supervisor with extensive experience in managing aerostat operations. This role is crucial for supporting aerostat systems that deliver continuous surveillance and detection capabilities to our U.S. Government clients across multiple operational sites.

The ideal candidate will have a robust background in overseeing aerostat flight operations across various platforms. You will be an integral part of a dedicated flight crew, actively engaged in aerostat pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping, and recovery operations. Your responsibilities will include coordinating installation, repair, and enhancement projects while aligning with operational maintenance schedules. You will report to the Operations Director and collaborate with on-site personnel for daily execution of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a member of the operational crew in a 24/7 environment, managing aerostat pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping, and recovery.
  • Conduct all necessary preflight and post-flight checks and inspections of aerostat electronic subsystems.
  • Monitor local weather conditions and trends that may impact mission support.
  • Communicate effectively with the Control Center, Meteorological Forecast Facilities, and relevant Government agencies.
  • Maintain accurate flight system weight logs and balance records for operational aerostats.
  • Evaluate aerostat lift and purity trends, reporting any anomalies to management and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Utilize advanced technical expertise to address complex issues related to electronic equipment.
  • Serve as a key member of the flight crew during inflation, deflation, launch, recovery, and in-flight operations.
  • Operate aerostat launch/recovery control systems and their backup systems.
  • Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance on various aerostat subsystems.
  • Train and certify personnel in aerostat system procedures and operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience with aerostat systems; relevant degrees may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to obtain flight operator certification.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's license.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 shift environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from elevated platforms.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation with a favorable determination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an Aerostat Operator.
  • Industry-specific certifications.
  • Military experience in a related field.
