Position Overview:

The Principal Protection role encompasses a range of responsibilities focused on the technical execution of intricate protection and control projects for diverse clientele, both in established and new environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute complex protection and control project assignments independently, ensuring high-quality outcomes for both existing and new projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, documentation, calculations, and various deliverables as necessary.
  • Oversee and coordinate the efforts of engineers with varying levels of experience to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Adhere to project procedures, applicable codes, and standards while completing tasks on time and within budget constraints.
  • Engage in discussions regarding technical challenges and maintain effective communication with project personnel and external clients.
  • Conduct independent audits and reviews of technical outputs to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, including cost estimates and contributions to scope documents and client presentations.
  • Act as a team leader, capable of addressing complex issues and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating the ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Interface with departmental staff, project management, and external clients to facilitate project success.
  • Travel to job sites as necessary to conduct site assessments.
  • Ensure quality assurance of documents in accordance with relevant drawing standards and uphold proper document management practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (4 or 5 years).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
  • Proven experience in a project leadership capacity.
  • Extensive background in protection and control engineering for switchyards and substations, including supervisory roles for high-voltage stations.
  • Experience in project cost estimation and proposal writing.
  • Strong understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, including the MS Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration with senior engineers and designers.
