Position: Electromechanical Engineer
Location: Hybrid- North Reading, MA
Rate: Negotiable based on experience
Duration: 11 month Contract
Travel: International travel required quarterly
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) and scalability efforts to transition a diverse array of products from design to production. You will collaborate across departments to develop supplier relationships, manage product lifecycle modifications, lead quality enhancement initiatives, and address technical root causes in supplier quality matters.
Candidates should possess experience in manufacturing and supplier quality engineering, with the ability to make significant business decisions on behalf of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and support electromechanical suppliers in ramp-up and scalability efforts.
- Provide supplier quality engineering assistance for scalability.
- Advise on best practices regarding manufacturing tolerances using GD&T.
- Launch tooling with expedited schedules and evaluate project risks for the electromechanical supplier network.
- Assess external production processes, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Validate production processes based on dimensional data, control plans, and PFMEAs.
- Facilitate internal and external FMEA reviews.
- Resolve technical challenges across various manufacturing commodities.
- Manage electromechanical supplier quality issues as needed; lead containment and root cause analysis efforts.
- Suggest design modifications to improve product manufacturability and testability.
- Review and approve product electrical Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Analyze production, supplier, and field failures for root cause identification and resolution.
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience within the process/manufacturing sector, along with a technical degree.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks-CAD.
- Familiarity with PLM tools (Agile) and experience with diagramming and process applications like Visio.
- Knowledge of core concepts related to PCBAs and electromechanical components (e.g., cameras, lenses, scanners).
- Demonstrated experience in managing product lifecycles and collaborating with third-party manufacturers to establish best practices, quality control, scalability, and tolerances (GD&T).
- Experience with bills of materials (BOM) and engineering change orders (ECO).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- PCB design and standards (Gerber).
- Hands-on engineering experience.
- Quality tooling expertise (fault analysis, root cause analysis).
