As a Principal Protection Engineer, you will be tasked with:
- Executing intricate protection and control engineering projects for a diverse clientele, applicable to both existing and new facilities.
- Creating detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, calculations, and other necessary deliverables.
- Overseeing and coordinating the efforts of engineers with varying levels of experience to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensuring compliance with project protocols, relevant codes, and standards while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
- Engaging in discussions regarding technical challenges and maintaining effective communication with project teams and external clients.
- Conducting independent evaluations and reviews of technical outputs.
- Preparing proposals, estimating project costs, and contributing to scope documents and client presentations.
- Acting as a team leader capable of addressing complex challenges and ensuring the quality of project deliverables.
- Collaborating in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating the ability to work autonomously when necessary.
- Interfacing with various departmental personnel, project management, and external clients.
- Traveling to project sites for on-site assessments as required.
- Ensuring the quality assurance of documentation in accordance with applicable standards and managing documentation processes effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (4 or 5 years).
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification in the United States.
- Proven experience in a project leadership capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of protection and control engineering for substations and switchyards, including supervisory roles for high-voltage stations.
- Experience in project cost estimation and proposal development.
- Strong understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in relevant software tools, including the MS Office Suite.
- Self-driven, organized, and capable of independent work.
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and designers.
