Job Title: Public Safety Officer I-19 Hour/12 Mth

Join the Kern Community College District team as a Public Safety Officer I-19 Hour/12 Mth. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the college campus, its students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary:

The Public Safety Officer I-19 Hour/12 Mth will be responsible for patrolling the campus, responding to emergencies, and enforcing college policies and procedures. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Patrol the campus on foot and by vehicle to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, including medical emergencies, fires, and security breaches.
  • Enforce college policies and procedures, including parking regulations and campus rules.
  • Provide escort services for students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare reports as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure a safe and secure campus environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a security setting preferred.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions:

The Public Safety Officer I-19 Hour/12 Mth will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to stress and emergency situations. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
