Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant I to join our team at Kern Community College District. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional support to our patrons, ensuring a positive and productive experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general clerical duties, including typing, duplicating, and data entry.
  • Provide technical assistance to library patrons, including answering reference and directional questions.
  • Check out and process library materials, including books, periodicals, and other resources.
  • Assist with inventory and maintenance of library collections and supplies.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including copiers, microfilm readers, and library security systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of general clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques, correct English usage, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform routine clerical duties, answer phones, and greet the public courteously.
  • Basic math skills and ability to operate a computer terminal and enter data.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, approximately 19 hours per week, with a salary range of $2,392.50 monthly.
