ROLE OVERVIEW: Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, Part 145

The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, Part 145 will oversee the activities and ensure compliance with regulatory authorities such as the FAA and EASA. This role is pivotal in managing all facets of quality assurance, guaranteeing that the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) adheres to customer expectations, company standards, Part 145 regulations, ISO 9001, AS9110, and CASE Audit criteria. A typical day may involve:

  • Conducting quality assurance checks, performing internal audits, and evaluating components for Return to Service.
  • Collaborating effectively with technicians on the shop floor, embodying a mentorship and training approach.
  • Implementing, evaluating, and enhancing the quality assurance system.

REQUIREMENTS: Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, Part 145

  • Possession of FAA Return to Service Authority (Repairman Certification) – An A&P Mechanic license is advantageous but not mandatory. Must maintain good standing with the FAA.
  • Practical experience in component and parts maintenance within a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment or a 145 shop, including experience with inspection and return of parts to service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant FAA regulations, inspection methodologies, techniques, and equipment used to assess quality and airworthiness.
  • Experience in developing and obtaining approval for capabilities within regulatory ratings.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, Part 145

  • Manage interactions with clients, the FAA, and other regulatory bodies concerning quality assurance.
  • Direct and oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control divisions.
  • Ensure the airworthiness of all aircraft components in accordance with approved technical data. (Safety Sensitive)
  • Coordinate with the FAA and EASA on activities requiring administrative acceptance, including modifications to repair station Operations Specifications, Repair Station Manuals, and FAA-approved training programs.
  • Review and revise Repair Station Manuals and Procedures to guarantee compliance with regulatory standards.
