Ford and SK On are making significant investments in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee, which includes the establishment of three state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facilities. These innovative facilities will leverage Ford's century-long expertise in automobile manufacturing alongside SK On's extensive experience in electric vehicle battery production, aiming to set a new standard in battery manufacturing globally.
The Quality Assurance Engineer at BlueOval SK will have an extraordinary opportunity to be an integral part of the launch team, building the facility from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of safety and reliability assessments prior to project gates.
- Address marketing and cell development requirements; perform RFQ assessments including test condition analysis, execution of tests, and reporting results.
- Execute special and urgent tests as requested by key clients.
- Evaluate and approve safety, performance, and reliability test outcomes during gate evaluations.
- Oversee regular testing of shipment safety, ensuring comprehensive testing of manufacturing instruments and reporting results.
- Implement mass production reliability testing.
- Manage product testing related to 4M changes.
- Establish and maintain real-time evaluation systems for the Battery Quality Management System (B_QMS).
- Define testing standards for various items, register updates, and analyze measurement systems (MSA).
- Plan, lead, and coordinate certification initiatives.
- Respond to post-assessment requirements for UL WTDP, TUV, and UN certifications.
- Handle S-mark cell certifications for ESS in Japan and North America.
- Conduct UN transportation testing and prepare test reports.
- Manage and maintain evaluation instruments, including maintenance logs and standard operating procedures.
- Review specifications for evaluation instruments and place orders as necessary.
- Plan and execute monthly calibration activities.
- Monitor the quality evaluation environment in accordance with 3R and 5S principles.
- Perform job hazard analyses, including near-miss accident reviews and compliance checks.
- Ensure the safety and security of the quality evaluation facility.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues swiftly through root cause analysis and implement changes within production departments.
- Strong customer focus with a commitment to adhering to plant processes and the Quality Operating System.
- Demonstrated capability to execute tasks effectively while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to serve as a confident technical mentor to both hourly and salaried production staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to support any shift within a 7-day work pattern.
- Flexibility for significant travel during the initial phases of plant start-up.
- Successful candidates will exhibit strong leadership qualities, including exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Material, Electrical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in developing and managing quality systems.
- Proven track record in successful project and Quality Management System (QMS) implementations, with experience in production validation processes preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
