About the Role

The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Monitor to join our team. As a Grant Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management and administration of grants related to adult justice programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of grant recipients to ensure compliance with federal and state grant guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to grant recipients to promote grant compliance and program success.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with grant recipients, stakeholders, and other partners to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Prepare and review grant reports, budgets, and other documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of grant-related policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective grant management and administration.
Requirements
  • Professional experience working in the criminal justice or human services fields.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, performance measures and/or financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with grant funded programs and activities, including grant application review, grant monitoring, reporting activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound technical and programmatic assistance.
  • Documented experience working collaboratively as part of a team, committee, board, or workgroup.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email software.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and develop creative solutions to unique situations.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight.
  • Possess strong work ethic and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to think strategically and cross culturally, and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
  • Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives and goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.
  • Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member, as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented experience administering state or federal grant programs.
  • Professional experience working in the fields of local probation, pretrial services, reentry, or jail-based mental health or substance use disorder treatment programs.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to local probation, pretrial services, reentry, or jail-based mental health or substance use disorder treatment programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret code, minimum standards, policies, or procedures specifically related to grant requirements and program operations and activities.
