Senior Pre-Award Grants Specialist

Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pre-Award Grants Specialist to support the development and submission of research proposals. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and scientific faculty to identify and pursue grant opportunities, manage the proposal process, and prepare high-quality grant proposals.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Grants and Contracts Administrator to develop and facilitate grant opportunities
- Manage the entire proposal process, from concept development to proposal submission
- Prepare grant, subcontract, and contract proposals for new research projects and continuation/supplemental funding proposals
- Provide non-technical writing, formatting, and editing support
- Assemble the final proposal package to ensure successful integration of all application components
- Manage limited submission competitions for Massey
- Review and interpret sponsor guidelines for research proposals
- Communicate sponsor and university policies, processes, and requirements to faculty, staff, and external parties
- Review proposals to ensure compliance with university and sponsor policies and guidelines
- Prepare, revise, and approve research proposal budgets
- 3+ years' experience with sponsored project and contract research proposals submissions
- Experience creating proposal budgets and working with faculty members on revisions
- Knowledge and experience in working with local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations
- Capacity to draft clear budget justifications and other written materials
- Ability to review, interpret, and apply university and federal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Excellent computer skills in the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, and Adobe
- Capacity to use online internal and external systems
- Ability to be precise, thorough, reliable, and work independently
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Prefer degree in business or related field or equivalent years of experience
- Prefer 3 or more years of experience in pre-award/proposal development support
- Knowledge of OMB cost principles and Uniform Guidance 2CFR200, with an advanced understanding preferred
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000.
