Position Summary:

The Dining Services Supervisor is tasked with ensuring the courteous and professional serving of meals to Residents and their guests, while maintaining clean and organized dining areas. This role is crucial for public relations within the community, given the significance of dining in the daily lives of Residents and the direct interactions with them and their guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Team Members, Residents, families, and guests to ensure satisfaction with quality, service, and problem resolution.
  2. Oversee dining operations and supervise Team Members, assigning specific tasks as needed.
  3. Onboard, train, and develop Team Members, providing input for performance evaluations.
  4. Complete pre-opening and closing checklist duties, including setting up service areas, arranging dining room tables, placing menus, and organizing supplies.
  5. Establish and monitor service standards, ensuring knowledgeable presentation of menu items and professional delivery of meals.
  6. Assist Residents with special dietary needs and ensure wait staff are informed of all dietary preferences and restrictions.
  7. Participate in the setup, serving, and breakdown of special events, maintaining 24-hour beverage and snack service.
  8. Handle additional duties such as food ordering, invoice management, Team Member scheduling, and supporting special events.
  9. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including food safety regulations.
  10. Engage in training courses and professional development activities as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  4. General knowledge of proper table settings and dining service procedures.
  5. Ability to follow dietary instructions and menus.
  6. Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages and abilities, demonstrating respect and consideration.
  2. Proficient in reading and writing English and following verbal and written instructions.
  3. Maintain a clean and professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
  4. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  5. Good health and physical capability to perform assigned tasks.
  6. Must pass a health screening for pulmonary tuberculosis.
  7. Clear criminal background check as required.
  8. Experience in a similar role within a retirement living environment is preferred.
  9. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  10. ServSafe Food Manager certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  2. Must be able to lift and carry objects over 25 pounds.
  3. Requires bending, twisting, and reaching at various heights.
  4. Ability to push carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
  5. High safety awareness due to potential physical risks in the work environment.
  6. Ability to remain calm and positive in high-pressure situations.
