Position Summary:

The Dining Room Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the courteous and professional service of meals to Residents and their guests while maintaining clean and organized dining areas. This position serves as a vital link in public relations for the community, given the significance of dining in the daily lives of Residents and the direct interaction with them and their guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Team Members, Residents, families, and guests to ensure satisfaction with quality, service, and problem resolution.
  2. Oversee dining operations and supervise Team Members, assigning specific tasks as needed.
  3. Facilitate the onboarding, training, and development of Team Members, providing input for performance evaluations.
  4. Execute pre-opening and closing checklist duties, including setting up service areas, arranging dining tables, placing menus, restocking supplies, and managing dishware.
  5. Establish and uphold service standards, ensuring knowledgeable presentation of menu items and professional delivery of food and beverages.
  6. Assist Residents with special dietary needs and ensure that wait staff are informed of all dietary preferences and restrictions.
  7. Participate in the setup, service, and breakdown of special events, as well as maintaining a 24-hour beverage and snack service.
  8. Perform additional duties such as ordering food, managing invoices, assisting with scheduling, and ensuring dietary information is current.
  9. Adhere to and assist in ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, including food safety standards.
  10. Engage in training courses and participate in professional development activities as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  4. General knowledge of proper table settings and dining service procedures.
  5. Ability to follow dietary instructions and menus accurately.
  6. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Additional Qualifications:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages and abilities, demonstrating consideration for their rights and sensitivities.
  2. Must be able to read and write in English and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  3. Maintain a clean and professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
  4. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  5. Must be in good health and capable of performing assigned tasks.
  6. Must pass a health screening for pulmonary tuberculosis.
  7. Clearance from a criminal background check.
  8. Previous experience in a similar role within a retirement living environment is preferred.
  9. A high school diploma is preferred.
  10. Certification as a ServSafe Food Manager is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  2. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing over 25 pounds.
  3. Requires bending, twisting, and reaching at various heights.
  4. Ability to push carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
  5. High safety awareness due to potential physical risks in the work environment.
  6. Ability to remain calm and positive in high-pressure situations.
