Position Overview:

The Mobile County Public School System is seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Psychometrist. This position plays a crucial part in supporting the educational development of students through comprehensive psychological assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in effective communication with students, guardians, educational staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Participate in meetings focused on student referrals, eligibility assessments, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) modifications as required.
  • Administer and interpret psychological assessments across various age groups.
  • Prepare detailed written evaluations and reports.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and assessment of educational programs aimed at addressing identified learning needs through informed decision-making.
  • Act as a resource for parents, educators, and community organizations to facilitate the development and execution of strategies that enhance student learning and adaptation.
  • Uphold ethical standards and adhere to relevant regulations and policies governing professional practices.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and strive to enhance expertise and skills.
  • Deliver training sessions for parents and staff on pertinent topics.
  • Utilize educational technology systems effectively.
  • Travel to various educational sites as necessary.
  • Attend required staff and committee meetings.
  • Supervise interns as designated.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural safeguards and maintain confidentiality of student records and data.
  • Recognize and address diverse needs in routine interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the leadership team.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Psychometry, Special Education, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Certification as a Psychometrist or School Psychologist from the Alabama State Department of Education is required.

A minimum of three years of teaching experience or Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) designation is preferred.

Proficiency in typing and familiarity with word processing and database management software is essential.

Other qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director of Special Education.
