The Mobile County Public School System is seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Psychometrist. This position plays a vital role in supporting the educational and psychological needs of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages in effective communication with students, parents, educational staff, and administrative personnel.
- Participates in meetings related to student referrals, eligibility assessments, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development.
- Administers and interprets psychological assessments across various age groups.
- Prepares detailed written evaluations and reports.
- Contributes to the planning, development, and assessment of educational programs tailored to meet specific learning requirements based on data-driven decisions.
- Acts as a consultant for parents, educators, and community organizations to enhance student learning and adjustment.
- Adheres to ethical standards and relevant regulations governing professional practices.
- Engages in ongoing professional development and participates in relevant organizations.
- Provides training sessions for parents and staff on pertinent topics.
- Utilizes Student Information Systems (SIS) and special programs effectively.
- Travels to various educational sites as required.
- Attends mandatory staff and committee meetings.
- Supervises interns as designated.
- Ensures confidentiality and procedural safeguards concerning student records and data.
- Recognizes and addresses diverse needs in interactions with students and families.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Psychometry, Special Education, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
Certification as a Psychometrist or School Psychologist by the Alabama State Department of Education is required.
A minimum of three years of teaching experience or Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) status is preferred.
Proficiency in typing and familiarity with word processing and database applications are essential.
Additional qualifications may be considered based on the discretion of the Executive Director of Special Education.
